Hi, I’m Sarah!
I’m a fiction developmental editor.
Before editing, I worked as both a registered nurse and a nursing instructor. I learned how to stay calm in complex situations, how to assess and prioritize, and how to intervene without making things worse. This mindset shapes how I approach story work.
When I read fiction, I’m paying attention to how the whole story fits together—plot, character, worldbuilding, pacing, and structure. I’m not just looking for what isn’t working. I’m also looking for what is, because revision works best when it builds on the draft’s strengths, not just its problems.
I don’t believe in tearing drafts apart or prescribing fixes for the sake of activity. I believe in careful judgment, clear priorities, and timing. Most revision problems aren’t about effort. They’re about not knowing what to focus on first, and creating new issues while trying to fix old ones.

- I’m obsessed with anything medieval. My most recent trip included visiting Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh and a viking museum and guildhalls in York, UK.
- My nursing background includes post-operative care, emergency, and addiction. Lungs are my favourite organ, and I love teaching students how to start IVs.
- Knitting started as a pandemic hobby and is now an obsession. Most of my sweaters are handmade!
